Blackhawks 5, Devils 1

It was a thrashing.

Brouwer, Eager, Ladd, Toews and Madden scored for the Hawks, as they took a shutout into the final three minutes of the game.  Jamie Langenbrunner scored for the Devils after Duncan Keith ran into the referee while carrying the puck and coughed it up deep in the Hawk zone.

Happy New Year, friends.

The IceHogs beat the Houston Aeros in overtime, 5-4.  Trailing 4-2 late in the third, Rockford scored twice within five minutes to send the game to overtime.  Jack Skille was once again a man on fire.  He scored the game-winner on the power play and also added two assists.

Kyle Beach had an assist in Spokane’s 5-2 loss to the Tri-City Americans.  And hey, he didn’t get a game misconduct either.

Byron Froese was held scoreless in Everett’s 2-1 loss to the Saskatoon Blades.

Shawn Lalonde, fresh off signing his new paper with the Blackhawks, was a -1 in Belleville’s 1-0 loss to the Peterborough Petes.

    Hey,

Happy New Year’s guys! Here’s hoping the ’09-’10 season ends better than the ’08-’09 season!

  2. Dave Morris says:

Gentlemen, we agree this was a resounding victory for Les Blaque Hawques.

EXACTLY the kind of game they need to play.

The venerable Stan Fischler, who was at the Hawks’ Stanley Cup party in ’61, interviewed both Stan Bowman and McD during the intermissions on the MSG Network feed.

He called this performance “total domination”.

I celebrated by going out in the snowstorm at midnight, and clearing our neighborhood rink, so it could enjoyed today for our own Winter Classic Shinny Match.

Of course, I proudly wore the Indian Head, and as senior citizen among the collection of teenagers and twenty somethings, chose to channel John Madden.

As the flakes fell, we skated and swooped, back and forth for hours, and time dissolved in the pure joy of the sport where no one keeps score.

Hockey is the best game you can name.

Cheers, and thanks for your excellent blog.

    Happy 2010.
